Our Community

We believe that Corporate Soul is the vital life force of our organization, made up of our leaders, management, staff, clients, products & services, our stores, departments and more. We believe in giving back to and supporting the communities that support and sustain us.

At The Adventure Travel Company we believe in:

  • People loving what they do
  • New levels of creativity and productivity
  • Profound levels of contribution and success
We encourage and nurture Corporate Soul through the following activities: Archidona Latrine Building Project
Latrine building in Ecuador In 2006, The Adventure Travel Company put their money where their mouth is when 15 staff members spent 10 days in Ecuador as part of the Archidona Latrine Building Project. Working in 2 groups in 2 communities, the volunteers were able to build 3 toilets in just 5 days, using none of the modern construction amenities they might otherwise have enjoyed on a building site here in Canada. Travel CUTS is involved, with the Archidona Latrine Building Project, for the long term an on-going initiative with the intent to build 500 toilets over the next 5 years.

Earth Day 2007

Earth Day Leah Loewen-Colpitts from ATC Ottawa planted a mahogany tree seedling in a nature reserve in the Amazon Rainforest on Earth Day so it will grow up to feed the lungs of the world. She hopes to revisit it in 10 years to give it a great big ol'hug.

Saidia Foundation

Saidia Foundation is a not-for-profit supporting organization, born from the ideas that arose from Tera Materi from the Adventure Travel Company Calgary, and Alphonce Mallya from Tanzania, who met while traveling in Africa. A vision to help make a difference bonded their friendship and a need to help local communities by raising funds to support local activities.

To date, the Saidia Foundation has provided sewing machines and other sewing supplies to Uhuru Primary School in Arusha, Tanzania, as well as 80 desks for Magina Primary School in Magina, Kenya.
