Trip style-Original: an original tour with Intrepid is great value for the money! The accommodation is guesthouses, camping and overnight trains all interesting and diverse but always clean and comfortable! The tour involves lots of local transport, but that is half the fun! These tours are ideal for those who want to get off the beaten track, such as first time travellers or backpackers and those with an adventurous spirit who would rather see the culture and meet new people!

The tour is a great introduction to see the main sights of Rajistan in a southern loop from Delhi and back again. You will stop in the following and vastly different cities or towns:

Delhi, a Ganges Boat Trip along the majestic river, Varanasi, Agra, Jaipur, Roopangarh, Pushkar and back to Delhi.

The tour was one of the best I have ever done and India is one of those countries you will never regret visiting. The biggest highlight of my trip was being invited to a real Indian wedding from our local tour guide in Varanasi. This was an experience you would never have travelling to India on your own unless you have family there. We all felt a bit nervous going but as soon as we entered the reception we were greeted by the father of the groom with open arms and hugs all around. That to me is the essence of the true Indian spirit and lovely nature.

This trip was an amazing experience for me and the memories will stay with me for a lifetime. I remember seeing the Taj Mahal for the first time at sunrise and thinking it was more beautiful than any photo could ever capture. Varanasi sticks out in my mind not only for the wedding, but for the spiritual feeling the city emanates from the moment you step off the train. The city is a mass of people at all hours of the day heading to the river to pray, wash or cremate their family or friends. I had the pleasure of actually needing a few sari's for an upcoming wedding, so shopping in Jaipur was a experience in itself. To my surprise the shops are full of male salesmen and boy did we all have fun dressing me up in sari's and drinking tea for hours on end. I even got to try on an authentic wedding outfit just for the fun it was for everyone.

Overall this tour offered the chance to experience different landscapes such as bustling cities, serene river villages, famous iconic masterpieces, India's religious heart, amazing shopping, and desert splendor all in 15 days. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend this trip to anyone with an adventurous spirit keen on seeing the first hand beauty of India.
