Our most in-depth 3 week exploration of Peru, featuring mountain vistas, jungle adventures, colonial cities and the once-in-a-lifetime Inca Trail.

Itinerary

Day: Description:
1 Arrive Lima
Arrive in Lima at any time.
2 Pisco
The morning is free to explore Lima before catching a bus to Pisco, renowned for its local drink, the Pisco Sour. Spend a night on the town sampling some Peruvian food and drink.
3-4 Nazca
Visit the nearby Ballestas Islands to view the area’s sea lion colonies, penguins and abundant bird life. From Pisco, catch a bus to Nazca, stopping en route to check out the sand dunes of Huacachina, with an option to go sandboarding. Take an optional flight over the mysterious Nazca Lines, then visit a fascinating Pre-Inca cemetery in the Nazca desert with 1500 year-old mummies, bones and pottery. Finally, catch the night bus to Arequipa.
5 Arequipa
Peru's second largest city has a delightful colonial past. At 2325m (7626 ft) above sea level Arequipa is surrounded by the Andes mountains and lies in the shadow of El Misti Volcano. Optional visit to the peaceful Santa Catalina Monastery.
6-7 Colca Canyon
Travel to nearby Chivay, where hot thermal baths and Peruvian music await. Two nights near the Colca Canyon allows time to acclimatize and take short hikes around one of the deepest canyons in the world. Try to spot a soaring Condor or two in the majestic Andes mountains.
8-10 Puno / Lake Titicaca (L,D,B)
Travel through the Andes to the town of Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Take a boat trip to visit the Uros and Taquile Islands, then immerse yourself in Peruvian rural life with a homestay in a small village before returning to Puno on Day 10.
11-12 Cuzco
Enjoy spectacular views of the countryside while travelling from Puno to Cuzco through the high Altiplano region. With a friendly, colonial atmosphere, Cuzco offers nearby Inca ruins, cobblestone streets, museums, markets and churches.
13-16 Inca Trail (3B,3L,3D)
A morning trip to km 82 begins a once in a lifetime journey on the ancient trail of the Incas. Local porters and guides ensure that the trip is worry-free. Fascinating ruins and spectacular mountain scenery fill every day of the hike. On the final day, climb the steps to Intipunku, the 'Sun Gate', to watch the sunrise over Machu Picchu. Return to Cuzco by train in the afternoon.
17 Cuzco
Enjoy the many sites and activities of Cuzco on this free day.
18-20 Amazon Jungle (2B,2L,2D)
Fly from high in the Andes to Puerto Maldonado, deep in the lowlands of the Amazon jungle. Travel by motorized canoe to our lodge in the Tambopata Rainforest Area, which holds the world record for the most bird sightings in one area. Explore the jungle with local guides before flying to Lima for a final night out.
