"Mark Twain once said, "India is the show of shows". Ancient India. Thousands of years of traditions blend with modern life creating vibrant kaleidoscopic scenes. Delicately carved temples reach for the stars over cityscapes, auto and rickshaw drivers vie for the right to the road among sauntering holy cows and yogis with red cindora stripes on their foreheads shout 'blessed' while standing tall beside businessmen.
Although categorized as a subcontinent, India is as diverse as a continent--25 states, 25 different ethnic dress, 25 dialects and 25 indigenous foods. Traveling India you'll never get bored!
Antiquity can be felt and witnessed in Varanasi by taking a leisurely boat ride down the river past the burning ghats or watching pilgrims bathe in the Mother Ganges. Varanasi is one of India’s most sacred cities where hoardes of visitors come daily to give birth, honor their deceased or catch a glimpse oflife full tilt. Sarnath, twenty minutes from Varanasi, is where Guatama Buddha first turned the wheel of dharma or where Buddha first taught. Deer Park is a quiet retreat from the crowds in Varanasi.
From intricate lacelike temple carvings at Khajuraho and a pink sunrise over her majesty the Taj Mahal to India’s "Pink City" Jaipur and the 500 temples and palaces surrounding the sacred Pushkar lake traveling India is a humbling experience. The traveler is constantly reminded that India is one of the oldest civilizations and is like no other destination in Asia. Ancient India in all its glory and dichotomy is a country that you do not want to miss!"
